The Holy Ramadan will begin on Saturday for Muslims.

Ramadan, which is set to begin today, Saturday, April 2nd, 2022, based on the sighting of the crescent moon, is the Islamic faith’s third pillar.

A month after Christians began their Lent season, Muslims around the world will begin their holy month of fasting, known as Ramadan.

Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, the acting director for sharia at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council, whose office is responsible for announcing the start of fasting, has advised Muslims to use the fasting season to repent and forgive those who have harmed them.

“As humans, we are prone to making errors. On Friday, he stated, “This is the time to forgive each other, ask Allah’s pardon, and move forward.”

The holy month is full of blessings, according to Sheikh Abdul Hamid Kaggwa of Masjid Qubaa Namagoma in Kyengera Town Council, and every Muslim should look forward to it.

“This is an excellent time for any Christian to consider and correct what they are not doing properly spiritually. Such an opportunity may not exist beyond this month,” he warned, urging Muslims to support those in need during this time.

The month of Ramadan, according to Sheikh Kaggwa, is the foundation upon which the other pillars (belief in one God, five daily prayers, assisting the poor, and doing Hajj) are balanced.

“This is why it is a special season, and any good deeds we do will be multiplied many times over, unlike other months of the year,” he added.

Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi, the Kibuli faction’s newly designated Supreme Mufti, asked Muslims to respect the period.

“I encourage Muslims to use this time to deepen their spiritually while also praying for a reduction in the rising incidents of immorality,” he stated.

It should be noted that Muslim fasting follows a different calendar [Lunar calendar] that is about 11 days shorter than the generally used solar calendar, and it begins when a thin crescent moon appears in the sky after sunset within a day or so of the new moon.
