In advance of Manchester City’s game against Bayern Munich, Pep Guardiola teases defensive adjustments.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, might alter his starting lineup in order to stop Bayern Munich’s speedy attackers.

Kyle Walker could get the start against Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, according to Pep Guardiola’s hints.

Walker does not now fit into Pep Guardiola’s preferred tactical system, which has full-backs pressing inside, according to the manager. Guardiola said that he would think about returning the former Tottenham Hotspur player for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal due to the plethora of raw attacking talent in Bayern’s ranks.

Since Sadio Mane, Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry, and Kingsley Coman are all members of Bayern’s team and City were caught off guard by breakaway goals earlier this season, Guardiola was questioned about his strategy for stopping the opposition’s strikers.

“Defend what needs to be defended. We haven’t let up goals [in the Champions League before], but it doesn’t guarantee it will tomorrow. The goals, in my opinion, were not a major issue since both here and in Germany, we score goals but must also play strong defense.

“Their speed, quality, and mindset are among their many weapons and dangers.” This is a useful test for us. I often bring up how Bayern conducts itself when I talk about it. “We have to give it our all when the game begins.” The opposition is there, that much is certain, but we must maintain a laser-like focus on our work across the board.

When asked if he would start Walker considering the speed of Bayern’s attackers, the City manager responded, “Maybe maybe. We’ll find out.

Guardiola will face Thomas Tuchel on Tuesday, the sole opponent to defeat him in a Champions League final when Chelsea defeated City in the 2021 match.

When asked about that night in Porto, Guardiola replied, “I was unhappy, but I congratulated him and Chelsea for the triumph. “It took place. A month later, I wrote the game’s review. It wasn’t as horrible as I had anticipated, but it was still far from a winning performance.

“Like all of Chelsea’s games during that time, it was a close, tight contest. Set it aside and try again.

Guardiola said, “Both are very creative managers, crafting the formation and the shape they play,” in response to the question of how playing against Tuchel differed from playing against a Julian Nagelsmann team. Bayern under Thomas Tuchel played three or four games; possibly tomorrow they will play differently.

“They are quite imaginative. We always strive to determine their level of excellence across all departments. Both with Nagelsmann and with Tuchel, it would have been challenging. I don’t think much about that; instead, I concentrate on what our team needs to do better in order to succeed.
