Young ladies acquainted with table tennis through My Gender, My Strength Project

Through the undertaking My Gender, My Strength (MGMS), UTTA has set out on expanding the quantity of young ladies playing the table tennis sport in Uganda.

Up to 120 young ladies from Kampala and Wakiso have been acquainted with the round of table tennis – a huge gathering from the 50 young ladies who were at first designated by the undertaking that is upheld by the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), Yako Bank and the National Council of Sports.

“We are exceptionally enchanted for the help agreed to us from ITTA, Yako Bank and the National Council of Sports to make this program a reality,” UTTA president Robert Jjagwe clarified.

“A sum of 120 little kids who had never played Table Tennis were enlisted and begun playing the game under 20 days.”

The task has been running for near a month now since it started off on October 25, 2021 and is relied upon to run until November 20, 2021.

There have been a progression of instructional meetings that have been done by mentors including Edith Namukasa the associate undertaking organizer, Edward Koboyi, Irene Wotanabela, Amaniyo Flavia, Deborah Wandera and Nabukwasi Norah.

Different focuses are; St. Bernard Primary School, Green Valley Primary School and Kampala Academy Primary School.

ITTF has upheld the venture with USD 1,500 while UTTA’s association with Yako Bank has yielded rackets and playing tables that will be left at the taking part places.

The My Gender, My Strength undertaking will peak on November 20 with a competition of the multitude of members at Old Kampala Sports Arena.
