Woman shot dead by toddler while on Zoom conference call
A Florida woman died after being shot by her toddler while she was on a Zoom conference call, police say.
Shamaya Lynn, 21, was shot while on a work-related call on Wednesday, according to a statement posted on Facebook by Altamonte Springs Police on Thursday night.
When Lynn slumped backward when a child appeared in the background and participants on the call heard a noise, someone on the line contacted 911, according to the statement.
Officers and paramedics arrived and “tried their best in administering help,” according to the statement, but Lynn died from a gunshot wound to the head.
According to the statement, an adult had left a loaded firearm in the residence unattended, and the youngster discovered it.
Detectives are collaborating with the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office to see if any charges should be filed against the gun’s owner.
According to spokesperson Todd Brown, the prosecutor’s office is unable to comment on an ongoing investigation or potential charges.
