South Africa – Motsepe Foundation donates to schools & socio-cultural activities

Motsepe Foundation has just announced an R150-million sponsorship deal that would push school sports across South Africa. The man behind the foundation is no other than Patrice Motsepe, one of South Africa’s wealthiest men.

For many, what comes to mind from the mention of the name is that of a moneyed mining magnate, but Mr Motsepe is also an avid sports fan and current chairman of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). so the generous sponsorship deal for school sports would not surprise anyone who truly knows the man.

The announcement of a sponsorship deal was made during a press conference in Santon yesterday, Thursday, March 2. Present during the announcement of the sponsorship deal was the billionaire himself and the Chairperson and Ceo of the Motsepe Foundation. Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga and Gauteng premier Panyaza Lesufi were also present.

The R150 Million sponsorship deal will cover the development of football in primary and secondary schools as well as schools netball.

In his speech, the chairman of the foundation noted the foundation’s commitment to the development of school sports across the country. The latest initiative has been greeted with excitement across South Africa, with many praising Patrice Motsepe for it.
