Former CEO Ron Kawamara is leaving to seek an opportunity with a significant impact, and Vinod assumes his responsibilities.
According to a source of SoftPower News, Kawamara “may be headed to Google Africa, where he has landed a significant executive post.”
“His successor Vinod will focus on making Jumia sharper and faster to satisfy the needs of an increasing number of clients.
Vinod will also work closely with partners and vendors to make Jumia their preferred sales channel, according to a statement from the e-commerce company.

What is Vinod’s identity?
18 months ago, Vinod joined Jumia as the Head of Fulfillment, supervising operations across all Jumia markets.
In 1.5 years, he was instrumental in making Jumia Express faster, cheaper, and twice as large, and he also oversaw the establishment of Dark Stores’ fulfillment processes.
Prior to joining Jumia, Vinod worked in Strategy, Finance, and Supply Chain for the French multinational Lafarge Group, which has offices in Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Earlier in his professional career, he had worked as a software engineer in India. Vinod has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and a dual MBA from MDI Gurgaon in India and ESCP Europe in London.
