A historic abortion rights decision is reversed by a US Supreme Court decision.
Roe v. Wade, a significant ruling that over 50 years ago gave the country a constitutional right to abortion, was reversed by the US Supreme Court on Friday.
Justice Samuel Alito stated as much in his majority opinion, “Roe was egregiously incorrect from the outset.” Its argument was quite weak, and the choice had negative effects.
On the court, Alito was joined by five other conservatives. Three of the justices on the court were liberal.
The decision was made following the Supreme Court’s consideration of an appeal involving a Mississippi legislation that outlawed all abortions after 15 weeks.
