UPL: NEC’s arrivals compound KCCA FC’s problems

Due to the other side's defeat, the Uganda Premier League is off to its worst start in recent years. After losing five straight games, the team has dropped to the bottom of the standings.

The 13-time crisis The Uganda Premier League champions, KCCA FC, appear to be deeper than ever after falling to NEC FC, a new team, at Lugogo on Thursday night, their fifth straight defeat.

The Kasasiro Boys had fired Portuguese coach Sergio Daniel Moniz Traguil prior to the match and named Jackson Magera as their temporary replacement.

But on Thursday, the team’s baptism by fire came when Cromwell Rwothomio, a striker, scored twice for the team in the fourth and 25th minutes, respectively, after taking advantage of KCCA FC’s flimsy defense.

Newly promoted NEC is now third with 12 points, three points behind joint table leaders BUL and Kitara, following their victory.

KCCA FC has conceded 10 goals and managed just three goals in its five outings.

In the Uganda Premier League, the Kasasiro Boys will play Arua Hill on Tuesday in West Nile before hosting the reigning champion Vipers Sports Club at home on November 19.
