Brig Gen Kulayigye claims that the UPDF is not in Rutshuru.

The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) have refuted claims that they had troops stationed in Rutshuru, a region in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)’s North Kivu province.

A citizen of the Congo who goes by the name Jules Mulumba made the assertions.

On Congolese territory, Rwanda and Uganda install an anti-aircraft system. Another massive betrayal of the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s national sovereignty, this time with imperialist backing. under February 11, 2024, Mulumba wrote under the X handle @mulumba_jules, “We have to hit these small countries.”

He posted on February 13 once more, saying, “We will resist the Ugandan army until the very end, even though their artillery is fully maneuvered in support of Kagame’s.” This is where it is on the Sake-Kitshanga axis. There will be tenfold retaliation. Remember this date.

The charges were refuted as untrue by Defense Spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye in a statement issued on Thursday, February 15.

“The UPDF objects to the lies propagated by Mr. Jules Mulumba claiming that the UPDF is located in Rutsuru! Kulayigye observed, “He utilizes images of our army that were members of East African Community Regional army (EACRF) in an attempt to legitimize his desperate allegations.

Kulayigye claims that Mulumba’s photo was taken during Uganda’s deployment to the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF) in Tsengero general areas on the Bunagana – Rutshuru to Goma axis, not during the sake shooting.

“Unless it is a regional peace effort, the UPDF has no reason to be involved in an internal conflict,” he continued.

When the EACRF contingent’s mandate expired in December of last year, they left the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Only the troops assigned to Operation Shujaa, which aims to track down rebels affiliated with the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), remain in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
