The horrific murder of a 60-year-old catechist is being investigated by Lwengo police.
Richard Mbaziira, a resident of Kyaboggo village, Nkoni parish, Kkingo sub-county, was slain alone at home on Sunday night by unknown assailants, but his corpse was discovered lying behind his house at approximately 10 a.m. on Monday.
The deceased was the secretary of the Nkoni catholic parish’s catechist committee. Unknown attackers repeatedly struck the victim in the head with a blunt weapon before abandoning him in the garden.
The Masaka Regional Police Spokesperson, Muhammad Nsubuga, said that investigations have commenced to apprehend the perpetrators. He claims that no arrests have been made yet, but that investigations are underway.
Mbaziira is the third person killed in Kkingo sub-county in less than two months, according to Aloysius Kibira, the Kkingo sub-county LC III chairperson. Two reservists, John Kabanda, 60, a resident of Bigando village, and Vincent Kalya, 40, of Nzizi village, were killed on foot patrol on July 21, 2021.
According to Kabbi Ssenkatuka, the chairwoman of Kyaboggo LC I, Mbaziira was a modest man who, as far as they know, never held a vendetta against anybody.
He pleaded with the police to speed up their investigations and apprehend the perpetrators.
Mbaziira is the eighth victim of unknown assailants in the Lwengo area in less than two months.
