Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has cautioned Ugandans against selling and utilizing unacceptable steel bars.
UNBS says they have seen that numerous unacceptable iron bars have overflowed the market with numerous clueless people succumbing.
“The offer of unsatisfactory iron bars denies the client of the worth of their cash, advances out of line exchange and bargains with the nature of the development in this manner the wellbeing of designs,” UNBS said in an articulation.
As indicated by UNBS, most unsatisfactory iron bars have qualities including length more limited than the predefined 12m, poor naming/stamping, effectively fall flat/break on twisting and less weight per meter than that predetermined in the norm.
Clients have subsequently been urged to check the naming of steel bars before buy.
Pushing ahead, the agency says each bar will be neatly and permanently set apart with maker’s name or logo, the steel grade (e.g., 500C WR, 500B WR) and the ostensible measurement (for example 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 32, 40, or 50) at time frame most 1.5 meters.

“Whenever tracked down, the inadequate iron bars will be seized and obliterated with no response and charges will be carried against you as per the Laws of the Republic of Uganda” UNBS cautioned.
UNBS added that all uncommon orders veering off from the set particulars should have express authorization from the department. It anyway says, these shouldn’t be made available for purchase.
