UK approves Uganda’s Covid-19 e-vaccination certificate.

The UK High Commissioner to Uganda, Kate Airey, reaffirmed Shapps' decision, calling it "excellent news" for any Ugandans who have been double-vaccinated and wish to visit the UK.

Uganda’s Covid-19 e-vaccination certificate has now been accepted by the United Kingdom (UK).

The approval was one of 29 nations and territories whose vaccination certificates were ultimately accepted by the UK’s inbound vaccine policy on Thursday. Grant Shapps, the UK Secretary of State for Transport, announced the new development in a tweet on Monday, November 1, 2021.”We can confirm that eligible visitors from over 30 more countries and territories, including Peru and Uganda, will be added to our incoming vax policy beginning Monday, bringing the total number of nations on this list to over 135,” Shapps said in a tweet.

As a result of the change, properly vaccinated tourists from Uganda and the other 29 countries will no longer be subject to a 10-day quarantine period when they arrive in the UK on Monday. Travelers from countries that have accepted vaccine certificates are simply required to do a quick antigen test upon arrival, and if the results are negative, they are allowed to carry on to their destinations in the United Kingdom.

The UK High Commissioner to Uganda, Kate Airey, reaffirmed Shapps’ decision, calling it “excellent news” for any Ugandans who have been double-vaccinated and wish to visit the UK.

“There is good news for Ugandans who have been properly vaccinated and wish to travel to the United Kingdom. “From next week, Uganda vaccine certificates will be uploaded to the UK COVID-19 admission system,” Airey said in a tweet.

Although Uganda was removed from the UK’s red list earlier this month, the country’s vaccine e-certificates were not recognized by the UK, and Ugandan tourists were still subjected to quarantine upon arrival. Starting Monday, this will no longer be the case. Shapps also confirmed that, beginning Monday, all seven countries on the UK’s red list will be deleted. Ugandans who have been fully vaccinated can access their e-certificates on the Ministry of Health website link 14 days after receiving their last dosage.
