Uganda’s film Explore Uganda – The Pearl of Africa brand received three awards at this year’s International Tourism Film Festival Africa.

Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) established a new brand identity earlier this year called Explore Uganda, the Pearl of Africa, with the goal of promoting Uganda as the best tourist destination in Africa.

Uganda got two gold medals for the tourist destination country in Africa and the Grand Prix Award for Tourism destination country in Africa for their video Explore Uganda – The Pearl of Africa at an event held at Cape Town City Hall in Cape Town, South Africa.

Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) has released a film inviting the world to rediscover the beauty of the Pearl of Africa, Uganda, which is a highlight reel of all that is rare, valuable, and beautiful in Africa for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The awards aimed to recognize outstanding and creative video content connected to tourism and travel that is available on all continents and can be viewed and used on a variety of platforms. UTB Chief Executive Officer Lilly Ajarova remarked shortly after earning the award in Cape Town,

“We are honored and delighted to earn these accolades. Aside from being a fantastic source of inspiration for our industry.

We will use the award to hold ourselves to high standards in terms of sustainability, quality, and enjoyment. This will also strengthen our reputation as a preferred destination in Africa and internationally,” said Lilly Ajarova, CEO of the Uganda Tourism Board.

As the global tourism and travel business resumes, UTB is likewise working with all stakeholders to restore and relaunch the sector, she said.

Martin Mugarra Bahinduka, Uganda’s State Minister for Tourism, hailed the honours but urged the world to visit Uganda to see its vast beauty.

“I’d want to express my gratitude to the Jury for recognizing us as deserving of these honors.” We are delighted to be connected with the International Tourism Film Festival as a country, and we invite all of you to come and explore the Pearl of Africa, as we continue to make it simple for tourists from all over the world to visit us,” Mugarra remarked.

Hugo Marcos, the General Secretary of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT), called Uganda’s film one of the best in the competition.

“One of the highest-rated videos in the competition was the Explore Uganda destination video. It showed Uganda’s beauty’s distinctiveness, genuineness, and variety, inspiring the jury and film viewers to visit Uganda right now,” he said.

The Explore Uganda destination film was produced by LoukOut Films and directed by TBWA Uganda for the Uganda Tourism Board.

Tourism is one of Uganda’s fastest-growing industries, bringing in over USD$1.6 billion in 2019 and accounting for 7.7% of the country’s GDP.
