The bid by Morocco to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will have Museveni’s support.

His Excellency Mehdi Ben Said, Special Envoy of the Moroccan King and Minister of Culture and Youth, delivered the message to the President on Monday at State House Entebbe.

The Special Envoy, who was traveling with Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Abubaker Jeje Odongo, thanked President Museveni for his gracious hospitality and expressed his gratitude for the chance to make his first trip to this stunning nation.

“I’m here to bring the King of Morocco a unique message. I sincerely appreciate you hosting us and giving me the chance to get to know you here,” he remarked.

In addition to extending a warm welcome to the Special Envoy and his entourage, President Museveni vowed to support any sporting event that Morocco decides to host, provided that it does not conflict with the interests of the nations of East Africa.

Museveni stated on Monday that he had received a message from Morocco’s King Mohammed VI asking for assistance in their bid to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

As the first nation to contact us, he continued, “I will support them as long as it doesn’t conflict with the interests of the East African states.”

Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, Ambassador designate of Uganda to the Kingdom of Morocco and Khartoum in the Sudan, as well as other senior government officials, accompanied the delegation.
