At least two fisherman perished in the River Nile after their canoe capsized at the Nidirindiri landing location in the Palorinya sub-county of the Obongi region.

Amanga Majid, a native of the Aliba sub-county, and Yasin Mundasiri, a resident of the Kochi sub-county, perished while nighttime fishing. The deceased’s bodies have been located and given to family members for burial.

In the past five days, at least four people have already died in different accidents on the River Nile.

District commissioner Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, an Obongi native, verified the occurrence.

He advised homeowners and fishermen who were on the water to exercise additional caution, wear life jackets, and steer clear of utilizing boats when it was pouring.
