Turn to God before God calls you, Kaziimba urges faithful
“He is your safe haven and source of strength. Only God can provide answers to our questions. “The name of the Lord is our help,” he advised.
Archbishop Dr. Steven Kaziimba Mugalu has advised all Christians to clean up their homes since God might summon them at any time.
At the late Lt Gen Pecos Kutesa’s house in Buziga, Kampala, Kaziimba was the major celebrant at his funeral ceremony.
He urged people not to be afraid since God is always present.
“He is your safe haven and source of strength. Only God can provide answers to our questions. “The name of the Lord is our help,” he advised.
He praised Dora Kutesa, the deceased General’s wife, for her love and care for Pecos over their 41-year marriage.
“Thank you so much for the gift of love, Mama Dora; your husband confirmed to me that you gave your liver to him. With your liver, you gave him a second opportunity to live for a period of twelve years. That discovery moved me deeply because you fulfilled this promise of love that is comparable to Jesus’ sacrifice of his life for sinners,” he added.
Lt Gen James Mugira, who represented the Chief of Defence Forces, said the death of a liberator, patriot, freedom warrior, and national hero has grieved the UPDF.
“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Gen Kutesa’s family, the UPDF family, and all of his friends. He has dedicated his life to our nation, and as a senior cadre, his contribution was critical,” Mugira added.
Rosette Byengoma, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs, hailed the dead general as a smart and knowledgeable commander who oversaw the drafting of the Uganda Defence Doctrine and the UPDF Establishment.
She acknowledged that the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs could not forget all of his contributions to the country’s restoration of peace.”
Kutesa was laid to rest in his rural home in the Lyantonde area of Kabula yesterday.
