Azawi, real name Priscilla Zawedde, has been such a great addition to the Ugandan music industry since being signed by Swangz Avenue in December 2019.
Whatever she has touched so far has turned to gold and her forthcoming album is something we are all anticipating but what is Azawi really upto now?
Azawi, real name Priscilla Zawedde, has been such a great addition to the Ugandan music industry since being signed by Swangz Avenue in December 2019.
Born in 1996 in Kampala, Uganda, Azawi comes from the family of the late Walusimbi Samuel, and Nakamatte Mary. She has three siblings and other half-sisters and brothers.
Her journey to fame has not been a bed of roses. It has had a few years of raw hustle before chance presented itself and she grabbed it with both hands.
With the LO FIT EP, Azawi made it known that she was to do whatever it takes to prove what a gem she is.The EP introduced her to the world that has received her quite royally which has inspired her to hit the studio and work on more music with a new album in the offing. The first song off the new album dubbed My Year is already dominating playlists and music chats. It has shown what to anticipate off the new album.
Fast-forward… Last week; the jolly singer, together with her management, was in Zanzibar on a music business-related trip. She met some top East African musicians while there.
According to information gathered by this website, Azawi is lining up some huge collaborations to be added to her forthcoming album.
While in Zanzibar, Azawi shot a couple of music visuals for her new releases, one of which is expected to be released this month or early July.
Azawi also hit the studio with Tanzanian singers Navy Kenzo and Mimi Mars. The excited 24-year-old shared the good news on social media and cannot wait for the music drop.
Azawi has not had a collaboration with any artiste yet apart from dropping a verse in the the 2020 ‘Corona Distance’ Covid-19 awareness song.
We await to witness more of her music taste through her choice of collaborations and this could indeed turn into her year if all goes well.
