Tottenham’s Son Heung-min shares teammates’ reaction to Champions League and FA Cup disappointments

Son Heung-min describes how his Tottenham teammates reacted after being knocked out of both the Champions League and FA Cup. Tottenham has not won a significant championship since their League Cup win in 2008, despite hiring prominent managers such as Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte in recent years.

Son Heung-min, the striker for Tottenham, expresses disappointment for everyone associated with the club after their recent defeats in the FA Cup to Sheffield United and the Champions League to AC Milan. However, Tottenham was able to secure a victory against Nottingham Forest on Saturday and has widened their lead over Liverpool, who is currently in fifth place, to six points following Liverpool’s loss to Bournemouth.

Although the victory against Nottingham Forest, who are currently struggling, does not compensate for Tottenham’s loss in both important cup competitions, Son Heung-min considers it to be a good response from the team. Son himself has been experiencing a difficult season after winning the Premier League Golden Boot last year, as he has only scored six goals in 27 league games this campaign.

He told reporters: “It was really disappointing, we were thinking about the last three games and it’s been really tough to take.

“The game is always coming so we had to always bounce back as strong as possible. The reaction was really good.

“The players played with confidence and control. This result gives us confidence and can bring good vibes for the rest of the season.”

Son also revealed it was very difficult for his teammates and he could feel how tough a time it was for everyone in the dressing room.

He added: “Of course it’s been difficult but I think we’ve been professional.

“We’ve all been professional enough to deal with these tough moments and I think we have all people that are around and behind us supporting us in these moments.

“ To fix this problem by yourself is difficult, I’m always sharing this feeling with my family, the players and the staff.

“As a group we have to go out of this dark tunnel to make us stronger. It was a really tough moment in the last 10 days.”

Tottenham will aim to embark on a winning streak now that they are relieved of the pressure of playing in multiple competitions and only have to play once per week.
