What they had to say
Dr. Kizza Besigye (Kizza Besigye):
We realized that holding an election would not get us far because the entire country is enslaved. Those who believe the election will take them anywhere should be prepared, as we will be using this front. Our first responsibility is to ensure that all marginalized people understand that they must fight for their rights. It is up to us to set ourselves free. In this battle, we must hold each other’s hands. This is open to all. Come and lead this front if you want to, as long as we’re fighting. I will fight regardless of who is in charge. We can’t wait any longer since the issue is severe and the country need a full overhaul. We’ve allowed ourselves three weeks to consult with all parties who haven’t yet been consulted. The next course of action will be announced in three weeks. There will be no talks, only action.
Lukyamuzi, John Ken:
Thank you for appointing Dr. Kizza Besigye as the crusade’s head. He reminds me of Tom Mboya. He has taken up the fight for democracy and the liberation of people from despotism. Who are we spoiling, those who claim we are? In Uganda, we are laying the groundwork for free and competitive politics. Museveni should be aware that the path we’ve taken will put him out of power in the near future.
Elton Joseph Mabirizi: I’m Elton Joseph Mabirizi, and I’m
I pledge to be faithful as I join in efforts aimed towards removing this government from power before 2025.
It will take more than words to depose Museveni. We’ve heard enough, but only action will force him to resign. It isn’t about elections, and we must seize power before the year 2025.
Peter Walubiri: I’m Peter Walubiri, and I’m
I am relieved that the struggle we began in 1986 is now coming to an end on this front. It necessitates complete dedication to the front’s goals and objectives, as well as deeds and sacrifice. Today is the day to put an end to your fear. We must take a stand against this regime. This is the last strike.
