The government has been encouraged to pay more attention to the rights of people with disabilities.

Safia Nalule, the head of the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC), has urged the government to pay more attention to individuals with disabilities’ rights (PWDs).
Nalule challenged Members of Parliament to work harder for women and equity during a four-day seminar on human rights and Equal Opportunity.
She stated that persons with disabilities must be supported and that they have equal rights, noting that many are facing difficulties.
“Gender and equity concerns cut across all sectors, but they didn’t come to the fore until we introduced the necessity for a certificate of gender and equity compliance in the Public Finance Management Act,” she added.
She urged the government to continue to support the Equal Opportunity Commission so that marginalized people’s concerns can be addressed in future government programs.
“We requested the administration to scrutinize the budget and search for those specifics since the issue of gender and fairness in the budget lies in the details,” said the group.
Let them delve into the intricacies, because that is where our problems are, and I believe everyone will be able to contribute,” she remarked.
The issues of gender and equality, according to Irene Muloni, a woman member of Parliament from Bulambuli, are important and should be given significant thought.
“We need to analyze all procedures through the prism of gender to see if they cater adequately for women, children, men, and persons with disabilities,” she said.
