The Bishop of Lira Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok, has urged young females to stay away from clergy, particularly priests, and to avoid looking at them as marriage material.
Bishop Wanok compared whomever seduces an ordained person to Judas Iscariot at the ordination of one priest and five deacons at a scientific ceremony inside Lira Cathedral chapel on Wednesday.
He claims that a number of fine priests and other clergy are enticed by young women who admire them and ultimately ruin them.
He urged young women to let God’s men accomplish the task that has been assigned to them.
Bishop Wanok also asked parents to relieve freshly ordained priests and deacons of their obligations, claiming that priesthood does not pay.
Haron Okello was consecrated as a priest, while Rogers Okello, Emmanuel Opio Etam, Moses Edyomu, Douglas Ogwal, and Isaac Ojok were ordained as deacons.
The applicants made religious vows of celibacy, chastity, poverty, and obedience, as well as a promise to observe the institute’s rule of life.
“Today, I therefore implore your parents and the whole flock of the Lira Diocese to liberate you to bear this cross without hindrance,” Bishop Wanok stated.
The newly ordained clergy were assigned to different parishes and are required to report immediately to guarantee that they begin working.
The newly ordained clergy were encouraged by Rev Fr. Valente Opio, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Lira, to never forget to pray.
“Always remember to pray and work. You are now in a better position to pray because of your ordination. “My brothers, let us constantly endeavor to stay with Jesus’ cross because it is simple to bear and he gives us the strength to carry it,” he added.
