The Uganda Police Force’s Chief Political Commissar, AIGP Asan Kasingye, has told the public that the killings in the wider Masaka region will soon be a thing of the past.
“The intelligence has arrived on the ground. The operations are running smoothly. This will be immediately resolved. Kasingye remarked on Tuesday, when traveling the larger Masaka area as part of his rectification and ideological orientation tour, that the investigators are doing a fantastic job.
In the larger Masaka region, 28 individuals have been killed by machete-wielding males in the last month, causing widespread panic.
Despite being well-equipped, many people have criticised police for failing to protect citizens.
However, AIGP Kasingye told the public on Tuesday that the Police have been joined by sister security services and that they are on top of the issue in order to apprehend the perpetrators.
“Today, 11 people have been in court, and further case files are being processed for court appearances. Ugandans must have faith in us and understand that they play an important part by sharing information about any dubious individuals.”
Asan Kasingye, the AIGP, made similar remarks to President Museveni, who said the perpetrators of the attacks will be brought to justice quickly.
“There are those who miscalculate and believe they can destabilize Uganda, but this is a lie. We are impregnable to any power. They’re all done now. They have no choice but to put themselves and those they are deceiving in peril. These people are attacking elderly people in Masaka at night, believing it is a plan! “You are now finished,” Museveni declared.
