The Acholi districts pay tribute to Gen. Lokech.

In an united council meeting, the Acholi districts pay tribute to Gen. Lokech.

Prior to his burial on Friday, leaders from Acholi’s eight districts met in a combined council meeting to pay tribute to the late Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech.

On Saturday, August 21, 2021, Gen. Lokech died at his home in Kiira municipality, Wakiso district.

Lokech, 55, is recognized as one of the most senior military officers to ever come out of the Acholi sub-region.

The deceased was a well-trained soldier in large guns, according to Col Benson Olanya, the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) coordinator in Amuru. He did an excellent job against the LRA in Uganda and South Sudan.

Gen. Lokech was a true depiction of a professional soldier and the best army officer Acholi has recently gotten, according to Godfrey Oceng Osborn, the Resident District Commissioner of Amuru.

The death of Gen. Lokech, according to Emmanuel Lapyem, male councilor for Labongo Layamo sub county in Kitgum, was one of the most heartbreaking obituaries in Acholi, adding that he was such an icon to reckon with.

The demise of Gen. Lokech has robbed the Acholi area of a high-profile man with a courageous identity in the current regime who could have served longer in government, according to Gulu West Division Mayor Patrick Oola Lumumba.

Maj. Gen. Lokech worked hard and was dedicated to seeing the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan through (R-ARCSS). He will be remembered for his bravery in assisting a contingent of Uganda People’s Defense Forces – UPDF under the African Union Force to Somalia (AMISOM), an AU-led peacekeeping mission, in driving militant Al-Shabaab out of Somalia.
