After a spirited 1-0 away victory against Kagera SC on Sunday, Young Africans SC has reclaimed first place in the 2022/2023 Tanzania Premier League standings.
Young Africans SC arrived at the CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza full of confidence after eliminating Club African of Tunisia to advance to the ground stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Clement Mzize gave Young Africans SC the lead on the slick playing surface after 18 minutes. The home team made an effort to strike back but was unsuccessful.

Azam FC fought to defeat Mtibwa FC 4-3 on Saturday. Azam FC’s Idris Mbombo scored twice in the opening 30 minutes, and Abdallah Kheri added another to make it 3-0 at the half. After 61 minutes, Adam Adam gave Mtibwa a goal back.
However, Daniel Amoah gave Azam FC a 4-1 victory. For Mtibwa FC, two more goals were scored by Adam Adam and Nassor Kiziwa. With Pape Sakho scoring the lone goal, Simba SC defeated Ihefu SC 1-0 as well.
Azam Fc, who have played 11 matches, are in second place with the same number of points but a lower goal differential than Young Africans SC, who have played nine matches and currently lead the log with 23 points. With 21 points from 10 games, Simba SC is third on the log.
