Last week, the decision National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman Electoral Commission (EC) Tanga Odoi offered energetic remarks in which he underscored that President Museveni will be the party’s official up-and-comer in 2026.
Tanga’s remarks unexpectedly came while planning for the by-appointment of the Kayunga District Chairperson seat which fell empty after the passing on Ffefeka Sserubogo this year.
Tanga remarks stated that Uganda isn’t a lab, where anybody professes to have an interest in running for the administration, adding that Museveni is as yet accessible and will be.
“We don’t have some other official up-and-comer in 2026, I am talking as the NRM EC administrator. Assuming you need to endeavor, then, at that point, attempt we see,” Tanga said.
“Wherever individuals need to be leader of NRM, President of Uganda, that is unseriousness. President Museveni is as yet here today, tomorrow and the following day,” he added.
Tanga was not yet done, blowing up at National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu assumed name Bobi Wine whom he alluded to as a novice.
“Uganda isn’t a research facility for tests,” he said.
“He (Bobi Wine” is excessively youthful, excessively shallow, he can not be leader of Uganda,” Tanga said.
In any case, Tanga’s remarks in spite of being cheered during the occasion, have caused a turbulent discussion in both the NRM and the NUP circles.
NUP representative Joel Ssenyonyi took to Twitter and censured Tanga for acting incidentally to his Ph.D. capabilities.
Ssenyonyi blames Tanga for being cheated on account of the ‘bread morsels” he is getting from President Museveni.
“It is dismal that a few purported elites have been diminished to this! For Tanga Odoi who calls himself Dr/Ph.D. (albeit some have questioned the validness of his “Ph.D.”) to feel that Mr.Museveni is undying and Uganda can’t make due without him is ridiculous. In any case, Tanga needs to procure his kawogo!”Ssenyonyi said.
Gathering for Democratic Change (FDC) party’s Gilbert Olanya was additionally overwhelmed by Tanga’s remarks, requesting that the teacher quit pushing for such “ridiculous” things.
“It should stop,” Olanya said.
David Kabanda, NRM’s MP for Kasambya County censured Tanga for his remarks, adding that he “should go underground”.
“Tanga Odoi is attempting to have his agreement reestablished, You realize it lapses in January 2022. Help me to remember when Tanga Odoi called a National Conference to choose the NRM Presidential contender for 2026? My Candidate for 2026 is Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Tanga should hide,” Kabanda said.
No individual has so far communicated interest in the administration.
President Museveni as of late while responding to the inquiry on whether he was prepping his child Gen Muhoozi to take over from him said: “Ugandans will decide their next chief,”.
Museveni was himself hesitant on whether he will represent the administration again in 2026.
