Ssemujju: Lokech left a bad legacy in police
Ssemujju claims Lokech has a terrible reputation in the police force, citing the investigative case of Gen Katumba Wamala's attempted murder, in which Lokech was the primary investigator.
The country is still reeling from the unexpected death of Maj Gen Paul Lockech, who had served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police for the previous eight months since his appointment in November. Lokech took over for Sabiiti Mzee, who had been fired during the violent November demonstrations that threatened to topple Museveni’s government.
When someone dies in Africa, the positive aspect of him is often the first thing that is spoken. Hon Ssemujju Nganda, the Kiira Municipality MP, had no nice words for the fallen General, whom he claims has a soiled history that merits no honor.
Lokech, according to Ssemujju, was a whipping tool of the NRM administration, employed to carry out whatever task suited his master, Commander in Chief Gen. Yoweri Museveni.
Ssemujju claims Lokech has a terrible reputation in the police force, citing the investigative case of Gen Katumba Wamala’s attempted murder, in which Lokech was the primary investigator. According to Ssemujju, the findings revealed Gen Lokech presenting two deceased suspects and two badly tortured detainees, portraying the police force in a negative light, prompting Museveni to criticize security agents who tortured these suspects.
Lokech, according to Ssemujju, was not as excellent as he was hailed, even to the point of being dubbed the “lion of Mogadishu,” since the UPDF has never been successful in eradicating Somalia’s insurgents. These comments were given by Ssemujju in response to a query from one of the local television stations.
