“Ssegirinya is in pain, yet he has a strong spirit.”
The NUP crew was granted access to the prison and allowed to interact with their incarcerated colleagues without difficulty.
Despite being in excruciating pain, NUP president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine stated MP Muhammad Ssegirinya sent a message of persistence and strength to all his supporters.
On Monday afternoon, Kyagulanyi led a NUP team to see the Kawempe North MP and his Makindye West counterpart, Allan Ssewanyana, both of whom have been imprisoned in Kigo Prison on murder allegations.
The NUP crew was granted access to the prison and allowed to interact with their incarcerated colleagues without difficulty.
After the visit, Kyagulanyi told journalists that Ssegirinya is in too much suffering, but his resolve has not yet been broken.
“He’s in a lot of agony.” He has a wound on his foot, and his second foot is also suffering from it. “The doctors in prison have been taking care of him, but he believes he requires more advanced treatment,” Kyagulanyi said.
He claimed that Ssewanyana told him he had been battered and that he was still in pain.
The two MPs were detained in connection with recent deaths in the Masaka area.
President Museveni, according to Kyagulanyi, wants to abolish the right to petition for bail so that he can imprison all of his political opponents.
As investigations into their case continue, Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana are due to appear in court on October 27, 2022.
