Our music has failed to hit the global scene because we (as the artists) are not united which isn’t the case for the Nigerians.
Singer Deus Ndugwa a.k.a Grenade Official thinks Ugandan music has failed to hit the global market because Ugandan artists are not united like the rest of the African artists.
While speaking to NBS TV After5 show, the “Nkuloga” singer compared the Ugandan music industry to that of the Nigerians saying Nigerians artists are more united and push each other’s craft unlike Ugandans.
He explained that when a Nigerian artist rises on the charts, fellow Nigerian artists support and back them up by pushing their brands to a new level and even offer them collaborations for free which isn’t the case with Ugandans.
Grenade gave an example of the time when Omah Lay was trending. “Almost all the Nigerian artists were pushing him,” he says.
Grenade points out how the same efforts which were put behind Omah Lay have been put in Chike’s rise to the global market, hence the reason why Chike is currently selling like a hot cake. Our music has failed to hit the global scene because we (as the artists) are not united which isn’t the case for the Nigerians.
