Seeta High School has come under fire for requiring students to take Covid-19 examinations.

Seeta High School in Mukono has warned parents that students without proof of a Covid-19 test will not be accepted.

Despite the government’s clarification that kids who have not tested for Covid-19 should be admitted to schools when they reopen on January 10, Seeta High School in Mukono has warned parents that students without proof of a Covid-19 test will not be accepted.

A cabinet minister is affiliated to the school.

One of the concerned parents told Bazzup that they had been told that the test had to be completed 72 hours before school resumed on January 10.

According to Bazzup, the school has teamed up with Test and Fly Laboratory to conduct medical testing, including the Covid-19 immunization, which costs Shs 145,000. Typhoid test, urine analysis, and a pregnancy test are also included in the so-called “Back to School Health Package.”

We’ve heard that several parents objected to the demand, but that they were informed it was unavoidable. Others were concerned that if their children were seen to be opposing the transfer, they would face retaliation.

“Getting school tuition is a difficulty for us.” Extra expenditures, such as Covid-19 testing fees, are now being added. One of the parents told Bazzup, “This is unjust.”

Schools are not authorized to exclude pupils who have not tested positive for Covid-19 or who have not been vaccinated, according to Ismael Mulindwa, Director Basic Education at the Ministry of Education.

“Any institution that requires a learner to take a test before attending class is breaking the law,” Mulindwa added.
