Rt Rev Akanjuna Enthroned as New Bishop of Kigezi Diocese

The new Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, Venerable Gaddie Akanjuna, has been consecrated and enthroned

As a result, Venerable Gaddie Akanjuna, the new Bishop of Kigezi Diocese, has been officially installed.

Rt Rev Akanjuna and his wife Charity were present at the consecration of Rt Rev Akanjuna as the Diocese of Kigezi’s 6th Bishop on May 29, 2022.

He succeeds the Reverend George Bagamuhunda, who is stepping down.

The bishop arrives at Kigezi High School for his consecration.

The ceremony, held at Kigezi High School in Kabale district, drew hundreds of Christians.

His Highness The Archbishop of Uganda, Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba, was the primary celebrant.

Christians are greeted by the Venerable Akanjuna.

While speaking at the event, Archbishop Kaziimba urged attendees to show their support for the new bishop as he works to revitalize and develop the diocese.

President Kaguta Museveni’s Special Envoy, Rt Hon Ruhakana Rugunda, was the Chief Guest at the event.


In a message read by Rugunda, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni urged Christians to continue working hard to lift themselves out of poverty.

He also encouraged them to take part in government programs.

A new Renault car was given to Rugunda by the new bishop, and he presented it to him.

Previously, Akanjuna served as the archdeacon of All Saints Church in Kabale.
