Robert Maseruka is the 89th president of Makerere University Guild.

Robert Maseruka has been elected as Makerere University’s next Guild President.

“Congratulations @MaserukaRobert, Guild President-Elect – 89th @MakGuild,” the university said in a tweet on Friday.

Maseruka, a National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate and third-year Journalism and Communication student, received 2,558 votes, defeating his nearest challenger Hilary Oremo Odwee, who received 2,531 votes.

Akankunda Sabiiti of the Forum for Democratic Change FDC finished third with 2,334 votes.

Other candidates included the National Resistance Movement’s Baraka Nkoyooyo (841 votes), Evans Murungi 189, Andrew Lubinga 186, Emmanuel Wanyama 180, Mark Ssebunya 53, and Julius Bigirwa Maxwell (11 votes).

The Electoral Commission Chairperson, Levi Tshilumba, declared Maseruka as the new Guild President-elect.
