Friday, coach Aliou Cissé presented his roster of 26 players for the 2022 World Cup. Sadio Mane’s presence is the top story, and despite suffering a minor knee injury against Werder Bremen on Tuesday, the Bayern Munich winger is in good shape.

“We are pursuing him, and we’ve dispatched a doctor from the Federation.” The good news is there will be no surgery. We offered ourselves the chance to meet again the following week. We’ll do an MRI again in 10 days. I preferred to keep him since we had already encountered a similar situation with Ismala Sarr at the AFCON. When queried about Mane’s condition, the technician responded, “We will give ourselves every opportunity to restore the player.”

Abdou Diallo, who was wounded recently, also makes the roster. Cissé is relying on Formose Mendy and Mustapha Name in the right back position due to the absence of Bouna Sarr, who will be out of action for an extended period.

Ismail Jakobs, Pathé Ciss, and Nicolas Jackson have been given the opportunity to compete for the Teranga Lions for the first time. Regulars Edouard Mendy, Kalildou Koulibaly, Gana Gueye, and Ismaila Sarr are present, although Keita Baldé is suspended for a doping control violation and hence unavailable.

The holder of the AFCON, Saliou Ciss, is ineligible because he has been without a club since last summer. Moussa Niakhate, Fadiga, Habib Diallo, and Mbaye Diagne do not make the cut for the same reason.

Group A opponents for the African champions are the Netherlands on November 21, hosts Qatar on November 25, and Ecuador on November 29.
