Chelsea’s roster could change as a result of Todd Boehly’s potential £182 million gain from player sales.

In order to reinvest and strengthen in crucial areas during the summer transfer window, Chelsea is anticipated to sell a number of marginal players from Graham Potter’s team.

Todd Boehly is attempting to cut Graham Potter’s squad while bringing in critical reinforcements in critical parts of the team, so Chelsea appears to be in for another busy summer transfer season. The Blues have had one of their worst Premier League campaigns in team history, and it doesn’t look like they’ll qualify for the Champions League next year.

The west Londoners have spent more money on new signings than any other Premier League club since Boehly came at Stamford Bridge. Because of this, Potter’s team is currently overloaded and has to be completely restructured during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea’s dismal Premier League record this season can be partially attributed to the several games that some important players have missed due to injuries. Reece James has experienced yet another setback since being cut from England’s squad during the international break, but N’Golo Kante is close to rejoining the team.

Up to ten players could depart Stamford Bridge during the busy summer transfer window, which Boehly will be prepared for. Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, and Christian Pulisic are just a few of the Chelsea players who have questionable futures and who may bring in a sizable transfer price if they are moved this summer.

As a result of his underwhelming performance after his £98 million return to Chelsea Bridge in 2021, the Blues would suffer a substantial financial loss if they sold Lukaku before the start of the following season. Aubameyang was signed on the final day of the signing period last summer, but he is about to leave after a lackluster campaign under Graham Potter.

Kepa Arrizabalaga has displaced Mendy as the team’s starting goalkeeper, and if contract negotiations fall through this summer, he might be traded. Ziyech was on the verge of signing a transfer agreement to join Paris Saint-Germain in January, but the deal collapsed late in the window. The Moroccan winger is now slated to leave before the 2023–24 season.

Mason Mount’s contract negotiations have so far been unsuccessful because both Manchester United and Liverpool are interested in signing the Chelsea star. Newcastle courted Ruben Loftus-Cheek in January, and he might move on to play first-team football somewhere else.

Last summer, Pulisic was rumored to be leaving Chelsea, but he opted to stay despite interest from Serie A clubs. Other players who might leave after spending the 2022–23 season on loan include Baba Rahman, Malang Sarr, and Tiemoue Bakayoko.

CIES Football Observatory estimates that if the following players leave, the Blues might receive a total of £182 million to reinvest in Potter’s squad.
