Pope Francis Appoints Rt. Rev. Wokorach New Gulu Archbishop
His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed the Rt. Rev. Raphael p’Mony Wokorach as the new Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu.
Wokorach was the Bishop of the Nebbi Catholic Diocese.
The Holy Father has accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Gulu presented by Archbishop John Baptist Odama, for reaching the age limit, according to Can 401, § 1 of the Code of Canon Law.
His Grace John Baptist Odama, Archbishop Emeritus of Gulu, has been appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Gulu until the day of the canonical possession by the new Archbishop.

“The Apostolic Nunciature congratulates the new Archbishop Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, M.C.C.J and invoked abundant blessings upon his pastoral ministry in that local Church,” reads a statement released by Luigi Bianco, Apostolic Nuncio to Uganda.
“The Apostolic Nunciature expressed its gratitude to His Grace Jon Baptist Odama for his generous service during twenty-five years as the first Metropolitan Archbishop of Gulu (1999-2024) and before as the first Bishop of the Diocese of Nebbi (1996-1999),” he added.
