President Yoweri Museveni, the national chairman of the NRM, has informed the residents of the Teso sub-region and the Soroti City East Constituency in particular that politics is not about personalities but rather the party that can competently address issues that the populace faces.

Politics is about us and the party that can competently address the issues facing the populace, not about leaders. To effectively suck Ajon (local millet beer) from the pot, you need a good tube called a “epii” in Ateso, and Ariko is that epii.

The NRM National Chairman was at the Soroti City East Constituency on Monday in the afternoon to rally support for the NRM candidate, Hon. Herbert Edmund Ariko, in the next by-election scheduled for Thursday, July 28, 2022.

After the court ruled that FDC’s Attan’s victory in the Soroti City East Constituency was invalidated due to electoral irregularities, the seat became vacant.

In Madera Ward’s playgrounds, where delegates had gathered, President Museveni said that politics is about finding a party that can and will always work with the people to solve their concerns, including security, and that the NRM is the only tried-and-true party that can carry out that mission.

Even if a candidate is good but is affiliated with a terrible party, the NRM National Chairman claimed, they are of little use and cannot do much to aid the wanainchi.

As a result, he recommended the voters in the Soroti City East Constituency to support the NRM flag bearer, Ariko, as he is a representative of the NRM, which is making significant contributions to the country in a number of sectors, such as infrastructure.

He brought up the sectarian politics of the 1960s, which led to slaughter and widespread disarray in the nation.

The COVID-19 pandemic recently ravaged the world, but thanks to the right policies and measures adopted by NRM, the number of deaths was significantly reduced compared to the developed countries, which lost millions of their population. President Museveni also reminded the people of Teso how NRM managed to overcome a number of challenges, including, among others, floods, locusts, and most recently, the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regarding education, President Museveni asked the people of the Teso sub-region and the nation at large to vehemently reject the attempt by some retrogressive elements to reinstate fees in schools, pointing out that his main goal was to assist the impoverished children in obtaining free education.

“You must order anyone who disagree with my intentions to abandon their plots. 38 percent of children complete primary school, while 62 percent stop at P7. He pondered, “Now, how do you modernize the nation.

He asked the residents of Teso and all of Uganda to support the NRM Government’s objective to introduce universal education in Uganda before the conclusion of the current term of government.

President Museveni urged the people of Teso to practice modern, strategic farming in order to build wealth at the household level. He advised households with tiny plots of land to focus on intense agriculture and to leave extensive farming to those with large tracts of land.

He also urged people who had some land to raise pigs and chickens in the backyards of their houses.

The borders of the water bodies can be used for fish farming by those living close to the wetlands.

He named some of the successful fish farming initiatives, such the ones being carried out at Limoto in Pallisa and Anyara in Kaberemaido.

The Parish Development Model (PDM), which is currently being implemented, was also encouraged to be utilized by Ugandans, according to the President, who called it a rescue strategy.

The President mentioned the Emyooga as another intervention because it focuses mostly on hand skills and is for people without land.

In order to attract investors to Uganda and help establish enterprises that will increase employment and the country’s revenue base, President Museveni informed the audience.

The construction of the region’s good road network, plans to build the road from Kumi to Ngora to Serere and beyond, the road from Soroti to Amuria, among other roads, the road from Obalanga to Acan Pii, and the ferry from Bukungu, Muntu, and Kagwara to Bugondo, according to him, are all things that the people of the Teso sub-region are witnesses to.

Regarding the fuel crisis, the President declared that instead of pushing for fuel subsidies, the government would use the funds at its disposal to develop new, safer energy sources in a contemporary manner, such as the construction of electric cars and motorcycles, railroads, and solar and wind energy.
