Pastor Bugingo claims he was not introduced by Makula

Pastor Bugingo claims he was not introduced by Makula and that his visit was just a casual one.

Troubled Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of House of Prayer Ministries has denied ever having been introduced as Susan Makula’s husband.

Susan officially introduced Bugingo to her parents at their house in Kawuku, Entebbe, on December 7, in what was considered to be a conventional marriage ceremony.

This infuriated many people, including some of his fellow pastors, who accused him of starting a second marriage before officially dissolving the one he had with Teddy Naluswa, his legal wife. Since then, many people have demanded for the pastor’s actions to be investigated by the authorities.

However, at a recent appearance at a Kampala police station, the controversial pastor disputed the claims, claiming that he had just accepted an invitation as a guest and that he had not been introduced by Makula.

According to the Kampala Sun, Bugingo said, “My visit to Susan Makula’s home was only a casual visit and not a customary marriage ceremony.”

The news comes as Bugingo faces a lawsuit filed by city lawyer Male Mabirizi, who accuses the priest and Makula of partaking in a traditional marriage despite both being aware of the former’s ongoing marriage to Teddy Naluswa.

Mabirizi recently told NBS that Bugingo and Makula’s wedding ceremony went against traditional marital law.

For violating section 50 of the Marriage Act CAP, 251, the lawyer warned that the couple may face a five-year prison sentence each.

Bugingo is legally married to Teddy Naluswa, despite the fact that the former has sought on multiple occasions to divorce the latter in order to start a new marriage with Makula.

Naluswa, on the other hand, has always stated that she will never divorce Bugingo.
