Papa Augustine Osuban Lemukol, the Emorimor, the Teso cultural leader and paramount chief, has died.
The Emorimor passed away on Saturday evening at Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he had been confined for the past week.
Emorimor had been admitted to the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit at the time of his death, according to reports.
The news of Emorimor’s death was confirmed by the Prime Minister of the Iteso Cultural Union, who also stated that more details about his funeral rites would be shared.
Emorimor Augustine Osuban Lemukol, the Iteso cultural leader, will be given a state funeral, according to President Museveni.
“I join the people of Teso and the rest of the country in mourning the loss of His Highness Emorimor Papa Osuban Augustine Lemukol, the Teso cultural leader. “I, therefore, announce a state funeral in honor of Emorimor Papa Augustine Lemukol,” Museveni declared on Sunday morning.
The president also praised the late Iteso cultural leader as a strong proponent of peace and unity, emphasizing his commitment to preaching moral and cultural values.
The Emorimor passed away last evening at Mulago Hospital, where he had been battling Covid for two weeks.
More details on his funeral rites would be communicated, according to the Prime Minister of the Iteso Cultural Union yesterday.
