Online betting advertisements banned in India

The Indian government issued a warning to all types of media outlets on Monday prohibiting the publication, telecasting, or promotion of advertisements related to online betting and gaming in India.
The alert came after a number of advertisements for online betting websites/platforms surfaced in print, electronic, social, and online media, according to the federal Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
“Gambling and betting, which are banned in most regions of the country, pose a huge financial and socio-economic risk to consumers, particularly young and children. The recommendation stated that “advertising on internet betting has the impact of promoting this mostly forbidden behavior.”
It went on to say that the online betting advertisements were deceptive and broke several rules in the country.
The guidance also encouraged internet and social media companies, as well as online advertisement brokers and publishers, not to display or target such adverts in India.
