NUP selects Mathias Mpuuga as Leader of Opposition in Parliament

Public Unity Platform (NUP) has selected Mathias Mpuuga as the Leader of Opposition in the eleventh Parliament.

The Nyendo-Mukungwe MP will trade Forum for Democratic Change (FDC’s) Betty Aol Ochan (Gulu Woman MP) who has been in the situation since August 2018.

Mpuuga’s arrangement was declared on Friday by the NUP Secretary General, Mr David Lewis Rubongoya, seven days after individuals from the eleventh Parliament were confirmed.

As the standard in Parliament, the resistance with the greatest number of agents is given the order to pick pioneers in the House.

NUP has 57 agents in the House who are the dominant part, FDC has 32 while DP and UPC have 9 each. JEEMA and the Progressive People’s Party have one part each.

As per the Administration of Parliament revision Act 2006, the Leader of the Opposition head job is to hold the public authority in line.

The LoP is likewise commanded to delegate a Shadow Cabinet, is an individual from the business advisory group, takes an interest in the deciding and booking of Parliament business and sits on the Parliamentary Commission.

The LoP likewise gives the authority reaction to the President’s State of the Nation Address.

The gathering has likewise named the Manjiya County (MP) John Baptist Nambeshe, as the new Opposition Chief Whip. He currently takes over from the Kira Municipality MP, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda. Nambeshe will be delegated by Kyebakutika Manjeri, the Jinja District Woman MP.

Different arrangements

Busiro South MP Medard Ssegona is the Chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee and will be assigned by Asuman Basalirwa, the Bugiri Municipality MP.

Joel Ssenyonyi, the Nakawa West MP is new the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee of Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises (COSASE) and will be assigned by Lucy Akello, the Amuru District Woman MP.
