NRM's Muwonge reminds Kayunga youths that voting is about issues, not friendship.

Andrew Muwonge, the NRM candidate in the Kayunga district LC5 race, has urged youngsters in the district not to vote based on friendship in the upcoming by-election on December 16.

“Let us leave politics and party affiliations aside and vote on issues instead.” It’s fine if you vote for a member of your own political party. Let us vote for someone who would speak out on issues that impact Kayunga residents rather than someone who will reject every project proposed by the central government,” Muwonge added.

“This isn’t the place for jokes.” Unlike the position of MP, the bearer of this office (LC5 chairman) must be someone who would help people. One who is truthful yet also aware of the issues that individuals face. “I am that individual.”

On Monday, the NRM flag bearer visited numerous villages in the Busaana subcounty of Ntenjeru North Constituency.

Muwonge said that, unlike many of his opponents, he is a man of his words, claiming that he grew up in Kayunga and served as the district youth councilor for more than ten years.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Kayunga residents to vote for one of their own. I’m not here to play politics; I’m here to help you. I’ve come to Kayunga to bring the people together since the district’s battles have been our greatest disadvantage for many years because they’ve stymied progress.”

Emmanuel Dombo, the NRM’s head of communication, spoke to youths on the importance of voting for leaders who will address issues that impact them.

“This is not my brother Bobi Wine’s race.” He isn’t a viable candidate. “Vote for Muwonge to ensure that the district’s service delivery is improved,” Dombo stated.

Kayunga will elect a new LC5 chairman on December 16 to replace Ffeffekka Sserubogo, who died in June.

Six candidates are contending for the job, including Andrew Muwonge of the NRM, Harriet Nakweede of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Boniface Musisi Bandikubi (Independent), Anthony Waddimba (DP), Jamir Kamoga (Independent), and Majid Nyanzi (Independent).

However, the race’s most heated debate is between the NRM and NUP candidates.
