Nantaba accuses police of tampering with evidence in the Ssebulime murder case.

Woman from the Kayunga District Idah Nantaba, a member of Parliament, has accused police of tampering with evidence in the case of Ronald Ssebulime’s murder.

Nantaba was testifying in court in the case of Corporal David Ssali, who is accused by the state of shooting a handcuffed Ssebulime in March of this year.

Nantaba, who was called as a state witness in Mukono High Court for cross examination by Mukono Regional State Attorney Aisha Naluze, refused to affirm whether the motorcycle on display was the same one used by the late Ssebulime to pursue her.

According to Nantaba, the bike given was restored and now appears to be in new condition; the bike’s back light appears to have been replaced with a new one, and the number plate, which had been attached with a rope, was likely removed during the repair process. The provided bike additionally has a handle for carrying luggage.

As a result, she asked the state to compare the bike’s present appearance to historical photos taken by investigative police at the Crime Investigations Division headquarters.

The State Attorney, Naluze, has asked the court to give the prosecution more time to investigate the material submitted. The session has been adjourned to Tuesday (today) at 9 a.m. by Justice Henry Kaweesa.

After the crime, Corporal David Ssali of the Kasangati police station was charged and confined to Luzira prison, and a ballistic report verified that the killer gun was indeed his.
