The government has acquired the land title for the 1972 donation made by John Akii-Bua.
The MP for Otuke East, the Honorable Julius Acon, was concerned that the house was handed to the coveted athlete but that he never received the land title.
The property’s land title was donated to the late John Akii Bua in 1972, when he won Uganda’s first gold medal in the Olympics in Munich, Germany.
According to the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Robinah Nabbanja, the government secured the certificate of title for the land gifted to him by former President Idi Amin in July 2021 at the direction of the First Lady.

President Museveni instructed the deceased Akii-family, Bua’s led by Tony Bua, to share the property equally as he handed over the land title at State House.
