As he takes office, Museveni meets Goodluck Jonathan. Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, who is in the nation on a professional visit, was received and met with Chancellor Cavendish University President Yoweri Museveni yesterday. Goodluck is currently in Uganda, where he will be installed as the chancellor of Cavendish University Uganda.

Cavendish University Uganda has named Goodluck Jonathan as the third Chancellor, beginning August 27, 2021. He succeeds Dr Kenneth Kaunda, the former President of Zambia, who was followed by Benjamin Mkapa, the former President of Tanzania, who was also the second Chancellor.
Goodluck Jonathan is due to be sworn in today, in time to preside over the University’s 10th Graduation Ceremony at Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort, where degrees will be conferred and diplomas and certificates will be awarded.
President Museveni welcomed former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan to Uganda and asked him to enjoy the country’s beautiful weather, which he described as “God-given.” “The height is responsible for the flora you see here. We’re at a height of 1000 meters above sea level. This is why Winston Churchill dubbed it the “Pearl of Africa,” he explained.
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo praised Museveni for leading Uganda to a new level of growth. He mentioned education as one of the areas where the country has grown, citing Cavendish University as an example. Other topics of common concern mentioned by the two presidents included commerce and business in the country.
Goodluck Jonathan, a prominent scholar with a PhD in Zoology from the University of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, has served as Governor of Bayelsa State, Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and 14th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria since 2010.
