President Museveni had a Covid-19 vaccine booster today, Tuesday, according to the State House.
Museveni was injected by the Health Ministry Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine, in a photo tweeted by the Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Linda Nabusayi.
“My doctors, Dr. Diana Atwine and an army commander named Dr. Magoba, have just given me a booster shot. According to my statement during the New Year’s speech, the efforts we will rely on to open the economy include full vaccination for people aged 18 and up, which totals about 22 million people, as well as booster doses for the 3.3 million people over the age of 50, a constituency in which I am well-suited. I am currently 50+27 – 77 years old.
We recommended that this group receive a booster dosage. However, those under the age of 50 who have difficulties such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, or other illnesses should receive a booster dose.” Soon after his vaccination, Museveni remarked.
To defeat the illness and revive the economy, the president urged Ugandans to get completely vaccinated.
“I strongly urge everyone to take action. If you’re over 50, you should have a booster shot. If you’re over the age of 18, you should get immunized completely. Dr. Atwine returned with another clan of dosages, stating that clan mixing is beneficial. Get another clan, according to Atwine, for the booster to work properly.
I had two AstraZeneca vaccinations and now have a Pfizer booster dosage. That by doing so, the body’s immunity and resistance to the infection are mobilized more effectively. If you’re under the age of 18, get the two immunizations, and then get a booster if you’re over 50 or under 50 but have comorbidities,” he said.
Even with the new Omicron virus, Museveni said he has received reports that those who have been vaccinated twice rapidly overcome it.
“Please don’t think this is a joke. “Everyone needs to get up and get vaccinated,” he stated.
Following the outbreak of the Ebola virus, Uganda’s president received a Pfizer booster dose approximately 10 months after receiving his first COVID-19 dose to increase protection.
Museveni joins a select group of international leaders who have received the Covid booster shot.
President Joe Biden of the United States had a Covid-19 vaccination booster in September of last year as a method of urging citizens to do the same.
Ugandans over the age of 50 are eligible for a Covid booster shot, according to the Ministry of Health, and three types of vaccinations are being considered for mixing and matching for the Ugandan population.
According to the ministry, viral vector vaccines with instructions for producing coronavirus antigens, such as AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson, can be mixed, whereas mRNA vaccines, such as Pfizer and Moderna, employ a code from SARS CoV2 to stimulate an immune response in recipients.
Inactivated vaccines, such as Sinopharm and Sinovac, that inactivate or destroy the SARS CoV2 virus using chemicals, heat, or radiation, are free to be mixed.
45 percent of the 22 million persons targeted, or 9.9 million people, have received at least one vaccine shot, while 17 percent have been fully immunized.
In response to allegations that the Omicron variety of Covid spreads quicker than its predecessor, Delta, several members of the public have requested the government to give booster doses to individuals who are qualified.
According to reports, the new version is more likely to infect persons who have never been vaccinated or who have previously had COVID.
As a result of the new rise in infections caused by the Omicron variant, the wait time for Covid vaccine booster doses has been cut from six months to as little as three months in some countries.
