Museveni boasts that despite the looming terror danger, the Nyege Nyege event went off without a hitch.

In spite of warnings of potential terrorist attacks from the United Kingdom and the United States embassies, the Nyege Nyege festival that was held in Jinja City was a huge success, and President Museveni has praised the work of Uganda’s security forces.

“I would like to offer my sincere gratitude to the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF), the Uganda Police Force (UPDF), and the intelligence agencies for their efforts in keeping the alleged sinners of Nyege Nyege in Jinja safe till the conclusion of their function without a single incident. “This demonstrates the strength of the Ugandan security system—to be able to guard such a long pre-announced massive public function, despite the threats posed by terrorists,” Museveni stated in a statement that was released on Wednesday.

A few days before the festival, the Embassies of the United States and the United Kingdom issued a warning to their residents not to travel to Jinja. They cited intelligence assessments that indicated the ADF planned to assault the festival.

However, festivalgoers disregarded the warnings and arrived at the event in large numbers regardless.

In his most recent statement, President Museveni, who has just returned from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a state visit, confirmed that the ADF had deployed “a few infiltrators to try and disrupt” the function. He made this admission after returning from the UAE.

However, he placed blame on the United States and United Kingdom embassies for the travel advice that were distributed in order to discourage nationals of those countries from attending the festival.

“These are the people who make mistakes. If things were as awful as they seem to be, it would be us who would be discouraging people from traveling to Uganda, not the British or the Americans. Always and everywhere, we are aware of what we are doing. Even if there is a mistake made, we are prepared to deal with it. According to Museveni, “these advisories by some of these actors are another form of interference in our internal affairs by these elements.”

The organizers of the Nyege Nyege festival, which was just finished, reported that this year’s celebration was attended by more than 20,000 people from Uganda, East Africa, Africa, and the rest of the world.

The event that lasted for four days took place in Jinja, which is located at the Source of the Nile.
