Vipers Sports Club has completed the signing of Mbarara City FC defender Hilary Mukundane for an unknown price.

Vipers Sports Club has completed the signing of Mbarara City FC defender Hilary Mukundane for an unknown price.

After announcing the return of Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye, Mukundane becomes Vipers’ second signing of the January transfer window.

Mbarara City needed to cash in on the defender, who had stated that he would not be staying at the club beyond the transfer window.

Mukundane, who has signed a three-year deal with St. Mary’s Stadium, characterized his move to Kitende as a “dream come true.”

“The club’s objectives are obvious, and I want to be a part of that journey,” he stated.

“I’m excited to join Vipers, and it’s a dream come true because I’m at the country’s top club right now.” I’m hoping for a lot of success as a result of this.”

“I can’t wait to put on the Vipers shirt and get out there and play,” he continued.

In 2015, the 21-year-old defender started his football career with Kamoma FC in the Western Regional League before joining Ntoda FC the following year.

He later moved to Mbarara City in the FUFA Big League for the 2016/17 season, where he assisted in their promotion to the Uganda Premier League.

Mukundane was eventually named Mbarara City captain, despite the fact that his first game as captain was three years ago against Vipers SC.

Mukundane’s addition gives Roberto Oliveira’s center defense options more grit and depth, as the Venoms appear to be lacking in that area.

The senior alternatives have been Halid Lwaliwa, Bashir Asiku, and Livingstone Mulondo, although there have been persistent concerns about their fitness, with captain Lwaliwa missing a handful of games in particular.

Vipers are also said to be open to adding more defensive alternatives before the window closes on Monday, according to sources.

Eric Ssenjobe of Police FC and Bob Oluoch of Police FC are also close to completing deals to the club, and will provide cover at both central defense and left back.
