MPs have summoned energy drink manufacturers.
The committee had previously met with officials from Uganda's National Bureau of Standards to discuss issues relating to the rise of substandard items on the Ugandan market.
The Parliamentary Committee on Trade, Industry, and Tourism has summoned the directors of ten energy drink companies over claims that some of their products provide people with amazing sexual power.
On consumer protection issues, the committee has called the Uganda National Drug Authority, Uganda National Bureau of Standards, and Uganda Communication Commission.
Last Monday, the minister of state for Gender Peace Mutuuzo announced that some alcoholic drinks are being disguised as energy drinks, necessitating the investigation of the companies responsible by the competent government organizations.
