President Museveni and the people of Uganda received a heartfelt thank you from Ambassador Meseret for their kindness, collaboration, and support throughout her four years of service there.

“During the past four years that I have been in Uganda, I have had help from a variety of people at various levels. Although you accepted my calls despite your hectic schedule, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your leadership and assistance throughout the difficult times my country experienced,” she added.

In addition, Ambassador Meseret noted that high-level delegations from the two nations and the exchange of bilateral visits by the two leaders were evidence of the strengthening of ties between the two nations.

The outgoing ambassador noted that Uganda and Ethiopia have benefited from being strategic partners for a long time. They have furthered their partnership by signing memoranda of understanding and strategic partnership agreements in a variety of fields, including water, trade, tourism, education, and defense.

She lamented, “When I leave this wonderful Nation of Uganda, I shall miss everything.”

On his part, President Museveni congratulated the departing ambassador for putting into practice the already cordial ties between the two sister countries of Ethiopia and Uganda and extended an invitation for her to visit the East African nation in the future.

The Ethiopian Embassy’s Charge d’affaires, Ms. Sara Wolelaw, and the Defense Attache, Major General Wagnew Amare, accompanied the departing ambassador.
