MP Ssegirinya’s case is dismissed by the court

The Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya case, in which he was accused of inciting violence, has been cleared by the Buganda Street Judges Court.

The Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya case, in which he was accused of inciting violence, has been cleared by the Buganda Street Judges Court.

Judge Gladys Kamasanyu of Buganda Street Boss claims that the indictment omitted to provide evidence connecting the MP to the alleged crime.

Recently, it was established in the indictment that Ssegirinya organized a gathering on March 22, 2022, to organize an illegal protest against the announced official results of the Discretionary Commission.

According to the arraignment, Ssegirinya had banners up showing that Robert Kyagulanyi, a NUP official candidate, had been selected as the party’s president. The suit is therefore forgiven because Ssegirinya’s parade only became raucous after the police intervened, the court decided.

Ssegirinya will remain in Luzira near Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana notwithstanding the ruling due to multiple counts of homicide, attempted murder, and aiding and abetting psychological persecution stemming from the 2021 spate of killings in Masaka and Lwengo regions of More Important Masaka district.

The two have been detained for more than a year in what their fellow MPs have referred to as a “conspiracy” to keep them in custody for a protracted period of time.

Even though the charge sheet for the arraignment said that Ssegirinya was having an impact on them, the justice determined that the crucial state observer, ASP Flavia Musiimenta, had not revealed this to the court.
