Samson Kasasira, a spokesman for the Rwizi district police, reports that the incident took place on October 22, 2023.

“One Kato, the defense secretary of Nyamitsindo Parish, provided information to Masha police on the death of their Chairman LCII. When police arrived at the location with a team of officers that included the Police K9 Unit, they discovered the deceased’s body lying in a pool of blood on his bed with a serious slash on his neck, according to Kasasira.

The deceased’s wife, who was present, said that the attackers attacked her while she was in the store. They only encountered three other people as they left the house, and they continued to abuse her as they ran away.

After being brought to the crime scene, the police K9 dog took the officers to Nyakagyera cell in Kabingo Sub County, which is around 10 kilometers away from the incident. From there, the dog entered the home of Yebuuze Ronald, the officer’s son, and then went on to Tukwatanise Moses, his neighbor.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the deceased married a second wife, which caused a schism in the family and led to domestic problems between the couple.

This may have contributed to his murder, it is suspected.

Four people are currently involved in the investigation: Kiconco Sylivia, 56, the deceased’s wife; Katushabe Aloysious, 40, the deceased’s son; Yebuuze Ronald, 33, the deceased’s son; and Tukwatanise Moses, 30, the deceased’s son’s neighbor.

The deceased person’s body has been transported to the mortuary at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination, and the four individuals who are suspected are being held while ongoing investigations are conducted.
